Memories of a Herefordshire Farmer is an evocative account of life on a Herefordshire farm during the post war years of the 20th century, recorded by John Thacker at his home at Poswick Farm, Wolferlow near Bromyard in Herefordshire. Originally recorded for the BBC radio series The Century Speaks, this specially extended recording includes anecdotes drawn from John Thacker's experiences over nearly 60 years of farming since 1942. Highlights include the big freeze of 1947, buying Poswick Farm, pig killing and driving cattle to market on foot. Now retired, John Thacker regularly gives talks about his life as a farmer and the many changes that have taken place. Available as a double CD. Three hours listening.
