Finding Your Way Around

The website is based on geography, a hierarchy of “place”.

There are 4 levels; Country, Region, County and Town.

With some very popular tourist destinations we included these at an appropriate level. For example, you will find the Cotswolds listed directly under the South West. This is an example of an area that actually spreads into the West Midlands as well, but we can only list a place once, so decisions have to be made! If in doubt Search

Searching for books

Searching is easy. From the Home page you can search by:

• Title: Great if you know it. The search will give you any title with the word or words in the title
• Author: Again, the search will give you any author or artist with the word or words in.
• ISBN-13:
  You can’t go wrong with ISBN. However, you must use the 13 ISBN, which the book industry is now using and not the old 10 digit number.
• Location: The place that you are looking for, and the most difficult for us! We have catalogued, by hand, one at a time, over 60,000 books. We know that we have some anomalies and errors. If you find something in the wrong place please tell us by emailing stephen@localgiftstore.co.uk
  If you search for “Burton” you will get Burton-upon-Trent, Ashburton, Warburton etc. but at least it will be found!
• Publisher: Lists all the books by any given publisher or producer
• Keyword: This search includes the descriptive fields as well as the others. So if you are looking for a book about Burton but it’s not in the title this is how to find it.

Searching for other products

• Title: Works if you know the exact title of the product you are looking for. The search will give you any product with the word or words in the title
• Artist: The search will give you any author or artist with the word or words in.
• Producer: Lists all the books by any given producer or publisher
• Keyword: This search includes the descriptive fields as well as the others. So if you are looking for Ale from Burton but it’s not in the name this is how to find it.

Online Ordering

Postage & Packing
Orders may be placed online, using our secure credit card ordering system. We charge a flat fee of £2.50 towards post and packing for delivery within the United Kingdom.

What currencies do you accept?
Payments must be made in UK sterling currency. If you use the online ordering system, it will make the necessary exchanges.

When will I receive my order?
Many of the products are supplied direct from the author or very small publishers and suppliers. This can cause problems if they are ill or on holiday, for example. An important part of this website is to give these “cottage industries” an outlet increasingly denied them by the corporate bookselling world. Please allow 21 days for delivery although in most cases you can expect 72 hours. We will email you any updates.

For UK deliveries we use Royal Mail.

Do you offer a tracking facility?
We do not offer tracking of deliveries, but we will tell you when it has been despatched. If you have not received your order within 21 days of placing it, please contact us by email at orders@localgiftstore.co.uk and we will take appropriate action to ensure you receive the product.

What is your returns/refunds policy?
If you receive one of our products in an unsatisfactory condition, please contact us immediately at orders@localgiftstore.com with details of the problem and we will take appropriate action to ensure you receive a satisfactory copy of the product.

If for any reason you are not satisfied with your purchase you may notify us within 10 days of receipt and we will refund the purchase price upon the return of your purchase in unused condition. Please note that in this instance you must pay the return postage.

NB: None of the above will affect your Statutory Rights.

Does your price include VAT?
Yes, if applicable. In the United Kingdom, books do not carry VAT, so the price shown does not include VAT. For prints, DVDs, produce etc. VAT is included in the price shown.
